Kwara: Police recover dead body of Fulani herdsman allegedly murdered by suspected ritualists

Unknown persons, suspected to be ritualists, have allegedly murdered a 20-year-old Fulani herder, identified as Usman Audu, in Igosun, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara state. DAILY POST learnt that the incident occurred on Friday. INEC states position on electronic transmission of election results in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted it has the capacity to transmit election results electronically from remote areas across Nigeria. DAILY POST recalls on Thursday that the House of Representatives was thrown into confusion as members debated section 52(2) of the electoral amendment act bill, which deals with electronic transmission. The PDP representatives walked out of a session on Friday after Ahmed Wase, the presiding officer and Deputy Speaker, claimed that section 52(2) had been carried. But Adeleke Adewolu, an Executive Commissioner at the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, told lawmakers at the House of Representatives on Friday that only 50 per cent of Nigeria has the 3G coverage required for transmission. Suspected kidnapper nabbed over attempt to abduct students in Ondo

A suspected kidnapper has been arrested for attempting to kidnap some secondary school girls in Ondo State. The suspected kidnapper identified as Gbadamosi Sani was apprehended after forcefully whisking two students of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure, the state capital away. The former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Lawrence Adedibu Ojerinde has at last been released on bail after spending 10 days at the Suleja prison in Niger State. Ojerinde was released from Suleja prison on Saturday evening after fully perfecting the N200M bail granted him by a Federal High Court in Abuja on July 8 following his arraignment on corruption charges by the federal government. The family of Nnamdi Kanu, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB leader has given reason they would be absent in court. Emmanuel Kanu, the brother of detained leader of IPOB, said until the family gets authentic information about how Kanu was abducted they are not prepared to go to court. He added that he does not believe in a fair hearing for the Biafran leader as only those from ‘Fulani Extraction’ are given fair hearing in Nigeria. 46-year-old woman abandoned in UNIOSUN teaching hospital in Osun

The management of Osun State University, UNIOSUN teaching hospital has notified the public over the abandonment of a 46-year-old female patient. The patient, according to the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Ayodele Adeyemo was brought in to the hospital by a woman who claimed to be her neighbour. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has officially launched the Abia State Social Identity Number and also enrolled in the scheme. Speaking at the official launch of the scheme at the Governor’s Lodge, Aba, Ikpeazu said the importance of data in governance and administration cannot be over-emphasized. He said the Abia State Social Identity Number will help the government in planning, addressing unemployment issues in the State, demographic distribution of infrastructure and resources among others adding that, it will become a pass that will guide relationships between citizens and government. Reps order suspension of Navy recruitment with all 44 new intakes from the North

The House of Representatives has ordered the Nigerian Navy to suspend its ongoing recruitment exercise, describing it as unfair and not in compliance with the federal character principle in the Constitution. The House noted that “every Nigerian deserves to be treated with dignity and rights, irrespective of where they may be located physically in the country.” Also, the lower chamber requested the Navy to provide details of all its recruitments from 2014 to date, including the geographical spread. It further mandated the Navy to “investigate the exercise and recommend appropriate measures to avoid similar constitutional violations in all future government recruitment and report back within 12 weeks for further legislative action.” These resolutions followed the unanimous adoption of a motion to investigate the process of the Nigerian Navy Supplementary Recruitment of 44 candidates. Nigerian govt commissions electric vehicle charging station in Lagos

The Federal Government has commissioned the first solar-powered electric vehicle charging station at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The project is the initiative of the National Automotive Design and Development Agency (NADDC), under the Elective Vehicle Pilot Project. The commissioning, which took place on Tuesday at the university’s Faculty of Engineering, was attended by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo. Others were NADDC Board Chairman, Senator Osita Izunaso; NADDC Director-General, Jelani Aliyu; UNILAG VC, Prof. Oluwatowin Ogundipe; Chief Executive Officer of Stallion Group, Anant Badjatya, among others.
